Addressing Unemployment Claims in a Pandemic

Topic Description

As part of the recently adjourned Special Session of the Illinois General Assembly, the Illinois Unemployment Insurance Act was amended to address COVID-related issues. Join Scott Cruz, Labor and Employment Attorney at Greensfelder Hemker & Gale PC for an informative webinar on August 12, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. as he discusses how employers are impacted and strategies employers should utilize to comply and protect their operations from unemployment related claims during this COVID-19 pandemic.  Additional topics include the following:

• How will my UI tax rate be impacted by workers furloughed or laid off because of COVID-19?
• What can I do if a previously laid off or furloughed employee refuses to come back to work and wishes to continue to collect UI benefits?
• What can I do if a current employee refuses to come to work based on a fear of COVID-19 and subsequently applies for UI benefits.
