Board Member Qualifications and Benefits

Candidates for Board Members must be Professional Members of the Chapter in good standing at time of nomination or appointment and for their complete term of office unless otherwise designated by the Chapter Board, as  defined in Article 6, Section 6.4 of the Chapter Bylaws.

To be successful volunteer leaders, candidates should also possess the following qualities:

  • Leadership skills
  • Ethical professional behavior
  • Proven ability to motivate, inspire, and empower others  
  • Sound judgment
  • Present a professional image
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams

  • Past history of involvement and high performance
  • Ability to identify and develop future leaders
  • HRCI certified or SHRM certified preferred
  • SHRM member required
  • Regular attendance at Chapter meetings and Board of Director meetings
  • HR professional experience, and 
  • Company support (financial and time).

Depending on your interests, there are many ways to get involved on a committee or as a Board Member. Committee members are not eligible for the board benefits listed above. Serving on a committee provides an opportunity to support the chapter and move into a Board position in the future!
