CICSHRM Diversity Panel
A Discussion on Racial Inequality in the Workplace
Tuesday, November 10th
Event Time: 11:00am-12:30pm
Presentation:
Join us for a panel discussion about addressing racism and inequality in the workplace. SHRM has begun a new initiative called Together Forward @Work that is a call to action for HR and the business community to drive out racial inequity from the workplace. They have made available data and tools to assist HR professionals in beginning conversations with colleagues in the workplace about this topic. Through a commitment to have these conversations and learn, our workforces can show that better, more inclusive workplaces not only equal better business results but also a better world.
This program is pending 1 continuing education credit hour through HRCI and SHRM!
Topic Description:
During this discussion, we will focus on three statistics that SHRM uncovered when collecting data about race relations in the workplace. We will pose a series of questions to our panelists to learn ways that we can create an environment for open conversations that can lead to workplaces that are more inclusive such as:
- Should employers empower their workers to have conversations about racism in the workplace?
- Does having employees who respond to racial injustice enhance workplace culture?
- If you witness an employee act with incivility in the workplace, how should you respond and hold the employee accountable?
- How can organizations prioritize equity, making sure all people are treated fairly and with respect in the workplace?
