Topic Description:
Our goal through our Veterans at Work initiative is to build awareness, inform and shape the recruitment, hiring and retention practices of workplaces as it relates to the military community. The military community is a rich source of untapped talent for the intense labor shortages and ongoing upheaval and transition occurring in workplaces. The Veterans Ambassadors Program is designed to be a force multiplier to increase the knowledge and expertise of HR professionals, people managers and business leaders to support stronger military community hiring and workplaces. The presentation will be to support your interest and efforts in ensuring workplace inclusion for veterans, military spouses and caregivers.
About the Speaker:
Donna Rogers Skowronski
HR Director for State of Illinois Construction Agency, President CIC SHRM, SHRM Foundation Veterans Ambassador
Donna has over 30 years of exempt management level HR experience with public, private, and non-for-profit organizations throughout the country and within a variety of different industries including teaching undergraduate and graduate students for 15 years at the University of Illinois at Springfield. She is the founder of Rogers HR Consulting, LLC. She graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Human Resources Development (HRD) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Prior to that she earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at the Illinois State University and two Associates degrees in Business Admin from Lincoln Land Community College and Information Management from Community College of the Air Force.
She has delivered numerous HR & Management related presentations among professionals at meetings, seminars, and conferences and has guest lectured at several universities. She has humbly volunteered on the SHRM Student Chapter Advisory committee, SHRM Membership Advisory Committee (MAC) Representative, ILSHRM as Past Director, CIC-SHRM as Past President and current President. She is a SHRM Foundational Veteran Ambassador. Finally, she proudly served our great country in the military for eight years retiring as a Ground Safety Inspector for the Illinois Air National Guard.
